Understanding Flash

I am very happy because today was the first time in  18 months that I really understood how to use my  speed light(nikon d900) properly..

Shudder speed :controls the ambient light (light coming from the sun)
Aperture: controls the light coming just from the flash..

If you want your background dark you have to increase your shudder speed, if you want your background lighter decrease your shudder speed..

One major problem is that once you mount the flash  on your camera your shudder speed wont past 1/250th
which makes it very hard to darker your background outdoor..I am not going into details, but this whole process is call sync flash and it happens with any camera brands..

Luckily there is something called High-speed sinc flash....this allows your shudder speed go to beyond 1/250th...Now you can really be more artistic with ambient light, you can go ether with a dark or blown out background...you would  have to go to your camera menu to change to High-speed sinc flash...

I dont remember all the setting I used but when I used this setting
A: 2.5
SP:800
ISO: 100
